COVID & RSV Testing
Purpose Pediatrics offers rapid COVID and RSV testing for children in Beaumont, TX during evening and weekend hours. Call or walk in, get tested, and leave with answers.
When to Get Tested
If your child has cough, congestion, fever, runny nose, or general respiratory illness symptoms — especially during high-circulation seasons — testing helps you make decisions about school, daycare, family exposure, and treatment.
We test on-site for:
- COVID-19
- RSV
- Influenza A and B
- Strep throat (when sore throat is involved)
Results come back during your visit, not days later.
What We Do at Your Visit
A pediatric provider does a focused exam, takes the appropriate swab, and runs the test on-site. If your child tests positive for something treatable, we'll start treatment during the visit. We'll also give you a clear plan for isolation, return-to-school timing, and what to monitor at home.
What to Bring
- Your child's insurance card
- A note of when symptoms started
- A list of family members or close contacts who've been ill
- The name of your child's regular pediatrician (if established)
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the test take?
Rapid COVID, RSV, flu, and strep tests return results during your visit — typically within 15-20 minutes.
Do you treat RSV?
We can treat RSV symptoms (fever management, breathing treatments, hydration). For severe RSV, especially in infants, we'll send you to the ER for closer monitoring.
My child has been exposed but isn't symptomatic — should I still come in?
Testing without symptoms is generally less informative. We typically recommend waiting until symptoms develop. If you have specific concerns (high-risk family member, school requirement), call (409) 225-5256 and we'll guide you.
How much does a COVID or RSV test cost?
For self-pay patients, each rapid test is $30 in addition to the standard sick visit fee. We also bill insurance — bring your card and we'll handle the rest.
