Minor Injuries
Purpose Pediatrics evaluates and treats minor pediatric injuries in Beaumont, TX during evening and weekend hours. A fall off the trampoline. A sprained ankle from soccer practice. The minor cut that needs a closer look.
Call or walk in. We'll evaluate the injury and treat what we can on-site.
What Counts as "Minor"
We treat injuries that need professional evaluation but not emergency-level care. That includes:
- Sprains, strains, and minor joint injuries
- Bumps, bruises, and minor head bumps (not concussion-level)
- Minor cuts and scrapes
- Wound care that doesn't require sutures
- Splinter and foreign object removal
- Minor burns (first-degree)
For closure of small wounds that don't need full sutures, we have on-site options like Dermabond. If your child has had sutures or staples placed somewhere else and needs help with that follow-up, we can handle suture removal or staple removal here as well.
What We Don't Treat
We are not an emergency room. We do not provide:
- Sutures for any wound that requires real suturing
- Setting or casting of broken bones
- Severe head injuries or concussion management
- Severe burns
- Any injury with significant blood loss, deformity, or signs of internal trauma

What to Bring
- Your child's insurance card
- Notes on how the injury happened (timing, mechanism, what's been done since)
- Any first aid you've already applied
- The name of your child's regular pediatrician (if established)
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you sew up a wound or laceration?
No. We do not provide suturing. For wounds that require real sutures, go to your nearest ER. We can handle minor wound closure with Dermabond when appropriate.
Can you set a broken bone?
No. Suspected fractures need an ER or orthopedic evaluation. We can evaluate the injury and tell you whether it needs imaging.
My child hit their head — should I bring them in?
For minor head bumps without loss of consciousness, vomiting, severe headache, confusion, or vision changes, we can evaluate. Anything that looks more serious needs an ER. If you're unsure, call us.
Can you remove a splinter or foreign object?
Yes, for minor cases. If a foreign object is deep, lodged near a joint, or in a sensitive location (eye, ear), we'll send you to the appropriate care setting.
